China is trialling replacing old transformers with energy efficient models.
ICA China is working with a range of government agencies and companies to introduce more energy efficient transformers-also known as a “higher energy density transformer”-as old ones age.
A trial case study with the local government in Zhenjiang city to replace ageing transformers and procurement at new projects with the “higher energy density transformer” has now been completed .
The “higher energy density transformer” is smaller, has improved higher temperature resistance as well higher energy efficiency and can be used in both industry & building construction to replace Al cast resin dry-typed DTs.
The Zhenjiang trial caps a year long project in China with ICA China partners like CEEG & DuPont that’s included a local end users’ survey, seminars, new technology development and pilot project planning.
Following the success of the Zhenjiang trial, ICA China plans to work closely with policy influencers like power utilities & electricity designers from different regions to participate in the program, and continuously to promote the “higher energy density transformer promotion” to secure copper share in transformer market.
