ICA China’s 2018 Global Copper Industry Development Trends Forum in Taipei in April attracted some of the world’s biggest companies and the country’s leading manufacturers.
The Forum drew a diverse group of experts from around the world and locally. Global companies Codelco, Anglo American and Glencore attended, as well as over a hundred local manufacturers, including TAYA, Walsin, SPC, SDI, Minchali, and GCE.
Taiwan ranks among the top six copper importers in the world and has a strong link with the country’s heavy electric, transportation, electronics, machinery, hardware, and electrical appliance industries.
The Forum covered the entire range of applications regarding the copper industry chain in Taiwan. Including global copper mine production and sales, development trends of China’s copper industry chain, production and sales analysis of copper products in Taiwan, copper plate market analysis, copper foil development and application, copper building aesthetics, new application of enamelled copper wire and copper recycling in Taiwan.
Donsen Lee, Taiwan regional manager of International Copper Association, opened the Forum and introduced the Safe Wire Safe Home project along with the thin distribution transformers, the copper alloy aquaculture cage, the copper rotor motor and varied industrial cooperation projects.
Taiwan’s Resource Recycling Association made the case for “urban mining” given the country’s lack of copper resources and an improved eWaste system, making the plea for a local copper recycling and metallurgy plant development.
