The copper industry’s ‘responsibly produced copper’ program “Copper Mark” has already signed up a number of miners, but now also has major partners in Google, Ford and Wieland.
Copper Mark Partners are organisations in the copper value chain that use or rely on copper in their business and who make a public commitment to the Copper Mark’s vision and objectives.
They also agree to recognise the responsible production and sourcing of copper in their business activities by expressing a preference for copper producers assured by the Copper Mark.
Such organisations include, but are not limited to parent companies of copper producers, joint venture partners with a non-controlling interest in a Copper Mark-assured producer, component and parts manufacturers using copper in their industrial processes, original equipment manufacturers using copper in their end-products, and investors and financial institutions with direct or indirect interests in copper producers.
It’s a potentially huge change for all sorts of industries and consumer products globally.
Ford, Google and Wieland—a pioneering German company with electrical & technology expertise—are core vehicle, technology and cabling companies with major consumer impact. By choosing to use only responsibly produced copper they can have a big impact on how copper is mined, refined and produced.
