A new global campaign aims to promote “safe, fair and sustainable mining”
The International Council of Mining & Metals-ICMM-has launched a new web site and related campaign to showcase how it is working towards a universally safe, fair and sustainable mining and metals industry.
ICMM brings together 23 mining and metals companies and over 30 regional and commodities associations-including the International Copper Alliance-to help strengthen environmental and social performance.
The new web site-www.miningwithprinciples.com-provides an overview of how the resources industry can and is working to strengthen sustainable mining. ICMM encourages companies and other organisations to adopt their “Sustainable Development Framework” across 3 main strategy areas-Environment, Ethical Business and Local Communities.
The campaign started on September 1 with a burst of social media activity on Twitter and LinkedIn using #miningwithprinciples followed by target market activation in Australia, Peru and the US in collaboration with national associations.
Work is also progressing on finalisation of a campaign toolkit and content calendar to assist members amplify messaging and promote the campaign.
