One of Australia’s biggest copper-gold projects just got the go ahead.
OZ Minerals says it has now received approval from the South Australian Government for the next phase of its planned $916M Carrapateena copper-gold project.
The mine is expected to be a 4.25M tonnes per year copper-gold underground operation. With an estimated life of 20 years, the massive mine could see yearly production of around 65,000 tonnes of copper and 67,000 ounces of gold.
The project will also boost the state’s economy through increased exports-South Australia is already the country’s top copper producer-and an estimated 1000 new jobs both during construction and operation.
