The latest Pulse Briefing is now out on ConnectOre, an in depth look how the mining industry is revolutionising the management of tailings.

This Pulse is a must read for any one in the mining sector dealing with both the environmental risk of waste streams and the economic opportunities of tailings valorisation.

The Briefing explores the current state of tailings mitigation, highlighting key stakeholder priorities, existing and emerging technologies, and evolving industry opportunities and challenges.

It makes clear that mining waste can be a sustainable economic resource when paired with next gen technology, processes, systems and outcomes.

A major focus of Pulse Two are the technologies that reduce waste by valorising or converting tailings into valuable by-products such as construction materials or alternative metal recovery. Innovations at Horizon One, Two and Three scenarios are detailed alongside promising real world case studies.

Change is happening. The establishment of the Global Tailings Management Institute (GTMI) in January 2025 is already demonstrating industry collaboration while accelerating accountability for tailings facilities globally.

It’s now an urgent issue, not only for miners, but for government and the Community. It’s also smart business…..the market for tailings management solutions, valued at $15B in 2025, is projected to grow at 7% annually, reaching $25B by 2033.

The Pulse Briefings are a regular feature of ConnectOre, an industry-wide partnership to unlock innovation and advance responsible practices in the mining industry. ConnectOre is all about industry collaboration, a shared knowledge platform committed to a smarter, greener mining industry.
