Responsible Copper-The Video

A new video showcases the social and environmental assurance program for copper production called Copper Mark designed to take the industry forward sustainably.

The Copper Mark demonstrates the industry’s contribution to sustainable development and provides a comprehensive social and environmental assurance program for copper production.

Copper producers participating in the Copper Mark are committed to adhering to internationally recognised responsible operating practices.

The Copper Mark takes the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as its inspiration and organizing framework recognized by 193 countries.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production forms the core of the Copper Mark and is the only SDG that will be part of the first implementation phase.

To be identified as a contributor to SDG 12 and receive the Copper Mark, companies will be assessed against a set of responsible production criteria defined by the Risk Readiness Assessment created by the Responsible Minerals Initiative.

The Copper Mark was founded, initially funded & currently managed by the International Copper Association. However, the Copper Mark will soon be established as an independent entity governed by a multi-stakeholder body.

The Copper Mark is a voluntary responsible-production program open to all members of the industry. Participants in the Copper Mark do not have to be members of the ICA.
