Levi’s Get Copper Edge

World famous denim company Levi’s has gone wearable tech with a copper infused jacket.

Two global companies-Levis and Google-have teamed up to produce a denim jacket that can keep its wearer connected to the digital world with just a few gestures.

Levis Commuter™ Trucker jacket is the first to use Google’s Jacquard technology. Copper wire is sewn into the sleeve that allows you to communicate with your mobile phone through touch and was originally designed for bike commuters.

The wire-known as the Jacquard thread-allows the user to tap the jacket cuff and get music, directions from Google Maps and screen calls, without having to look at their phone.

Just assign gestures within the app, and change them whenever you want.

It’s also given real-time feedback to Levi’s on how one of its products is used. The company discovered it was being used during the week, but not so much on weekends.

So last May when they refreshed the app they partnered with Uber and Lyft to make ride sharing services deployable from the jacket.
